Online ebike brands

Buying Online, Direct From the Manufacturer

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of ebike "brands" that are sold exclusively over the internet. Many of those bikes are all built in the same factory overseas, and just have a different name brand slapped onto the bike frame. Most do not sell through retail dealers, and offer little to no support. Some "online brands" however, sell fairly good quality bikes, built to their own specifications with higher quality components, but still choose to only sell direct to consumer, cutting out dealers, and the support that comes with buying from a local dealer.  Considering the electrical components on ebikes are not interchangeable between brands, it's no surprise that most ebike shops can't or won't work on ebikes for which they are not dealers.

The good news is, customers can save a few bucks buying a bike off the internet if they don't mind assembling the bike themselves, and are comfortable troubleshooting any problems with their bike by phone, or email with the manufacturer...um.....in China. Also, keep in mind that you most likely will not be able to test ride a bike you are purchasing over the internet in advance, so there's that.

Local Dealers

Buying From a Local Dealer

When you buy an ebike from a dealer, you support the local community. But you're also guaranteed the guidance and support of trusted e-bike experts. Owning and understanding your new bike is complex and more technical than a standard bike. So, just like you take your everyday vehicle to a familiar mechanic, you will want to approach your bike's care with the same respect.

Local bike shops have trained and qualified professionals with years of experience in the industry. They can tailor your buying, post-purchase, and maintenance practices with one-of-a-kind care and assurance. Their willingness to care for you is much higher than a big box store, chain, or overseas vendor. Your purchase protection is guaranteed through a buy local, support local, chain of command.

Here are just a few of advantages:

  • You get the personal touch of having an e-bike salesperson cover all the ins and outs of the different e-bikes, helping tailor the right bike to your needs.
  • You get the whole experience of grabbing hold of an e-bike, sitting on it, and seeing how it feels, and of course, taking it for a spin.
  • If you have questions about displays or how the charging process works, you can ask the salesperson to avoid being stumped later at home.
  • Easy to pick up any peripheral items like a helmet, bike rack, water bottle/holder, extra battery, or saddlebags.
  • If you have any issues with your bike or need some adjustments made, you can bring it back and likely pay nothing if it’s within the purchase warranty window.
  • No assembly is required. Nor is there any charge for dealer assembly.
  • Once you’ve made your decision, you can load it up in your vehicle or ride it home if it makes sense to do so.
  • You’ll buy with confidence because you will have experienced your e-bike before dropping your hard-earned money.
